Guildford Junior Plank Challenge

Some really good results with the class and a very close decider between James Myers and Paddy. But Paddy manages to clinch it with a five minute plank and gets himself the Plank Champion Trophy. Well done!

Fleet TKD – Junior Plank Challenge

LEARN TKD Instructor Paul Adams decided to recycle some of his old trophies and so gave his junior classes a “Plank Challenge”. Winner of the Fleet class was 5th kup, Henry. 5 minutes and 18 seconds! Well done. It was a close call with so many students way over the 3 minute mark. Remarkable stuff.

“Exceptional Sports Person of the Year”

LEARN TKD Fleet are proud to announce their student Oliver Adams has been awarded the Rushmoor and Hart Primary Schools “Exceptional Sports Person of the Year” 2017 award.

Oliver was nominated by his school for the award, due to his commitment and success with sporting activities at school, but moreso his continual success with his Taekwon-Do. Organisers reminded all of the children nominated and in attendance, that just to be nominated for the awards ceremony was a great achievement, given there are some 9,000 children in the Hart and Rushmoor area. The nominations for Exceptional Sports Person 2017 were announced by Olympic medalist and former World Champion rower Debbie Flood, who eventually announced Oliver as the successful winner and presented him with award. Well done young man everyone is really proud of you.

VTA Championships (2nd leg)

Sunday the 25th June saw local Taekwon-Do School LEARN TKD – ALTON hosting the second leg of the Vision Taekwon-Do Association 2017 Championships at Alton Sports Centre. 152 competitors from 14 Schools across Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex and Kent and strangely one competitor from Dubai!

Alton Instructor and competition host Paul Adams entered students from all four of his Schools (Alton, Aldershot, Guildford and Fleet) and was hoping several weeks of competition practice would pay off with some good results. Competitors ranged from both Coloured and Black belts in junior and senior divisions, competing in Patterns, sparring, power test and special technique events.

The competition commenced with all junior competitors lining up with officials a brief rundown of the rules from Tournament director Mr Dunn and a formal briefing from Master Philip Lear. After the first few hours of the competition completed Mr Adams’s Fleet school were well in the lead, but being a junior Taekwon-Do school for only 6 to 11 years, knew they would eventually be overtaken by the schools with older children and adult competitors. But it was great to be out in front for a while. Local Alton competitors continued to stamp their authority on the event throughout the day in all elements of the competition, with some of the Alton students achieving Gold medals in all three of the categories. Excellent results and testimony to the high standards Mr Adams and his team of instructors adhere to in all of their classes.

Eventual results finished with Alton winning the competition with 22 Gold medals, 9 Silver and 6 Bronze giving them a total of 90 points. Second place went to Tonbridge with 79 points and Crowborough finished in third place with 66 points. The children’s class in Fleet managed a very respectable 4th place with 47 points. Well done to all who took part, with thanks to the parents and well-wishers that supported the event.

UKTA English Open 2017

The UKTA English Open Championships, 19th March was only a week before our own Championships, so we didn’t have many people entering this time around. But for the few people that did attend it was a successful day, with some of the medal winners and competitors shown here.
