Because
there is no "full contact" sparring in "classroom" Sparring, how does a
student know if their kicking or striking ability is "up to scratch"? Will
their kicks or strikes be effective in a self-defence situation? One way of
testing this is the breaking or destruction of "breaker boards". Breaker
boards test a student's ability in speed, power, accuracy and efficiency of
a specified technique. Destruction is an important part of Taekwon-Do and
our training syllabus. Boards can be held by hand or placed in
a purpose built holder. Students also practice "full contact"
techniques on kick bags, kick shields, and focus mitts. |
